Staff Spotlight: Alfredo Beltran Aguirre, CEC Aurora Director of Innovation, Awarded Charter Educator of the Year!

Congratulations to Alfredo Beltran Aguirre, CEC Aurora Director of Innovation, for being awarded Charter Educator of the Year by the Colorado League of Charter Schools!

The Charter School Educator of the Year Award recognizes a charter school educator who is exceptionally dedicated to closing the achievement gap and preparing students for success. Nominees demonstrate a superior ability to ignite students’ passion for learning and spearhead collaborative efforts to prioritize student success within their charter school community.

Mr. Beltran Aguirre has been with CECA since 2018, the second year the school was open. Since he started with CECA, he has been involved with a number of programs and extracurriculars. He organized the Marathon Relay and Soccer Teams. He helped get the Career Technical Education programs off the ground building thoughtful pathways that consider student interests, industry requirements, and workforce demand. He also serves as a part of the Colorado Department of Education Commissioner’s Teaching Cabinet.

Nominator, Mary Bain, had this to say about Mr. Beltran Aguirre, “He expects the best in students but understands every student has individual needs and learning styles. The way he is able to meet students where they are is remarkable. Not only does he see each student’s individual future; but also considers the big picture of the school.”

CEC Aurora Head of School, Hannah Reese, said this about this great honor “There could not be a more deserving teacher than Mr. Beltran to be inducted into the Colorado League of Charter Schools Hall of Fame. He is unwavering in his belief in the capacity of our students, and in his support for each student. We are incredibly lucky to have him as part of our school community!”

Staff and students alike recognize Mr. Beltran Aguirre’s commitment to themselves, their school, and their community. Many students are able to identify with him, in part because of his own background, and are able to see a bright future for themselves. Many teachers rely on his mentorship for help with differentiation strategies and building lessons around student interests.

Colorado Early Colleges is grateful to have such an dedicated educator and student advocate as a part of their community. Congratulations, Mr. Beltran Aguirre, you are so deserving of this recognition!
