On January 29, the CEC Castle Rock English 099 classes will welcome Donny Dust, a Marine Corps Veteran recognized globally for his expertise in remote primitive survival, ancient/historical technologies, lithic arts (flintknapping), and emergency preparedness. This session is particularly timely as students are currently immersed in Jon Krakauer’s Into the Wild. Donny Dust’s visit will provide a unique opportunity to bridge the themes of the book with real-world insights. His perspective promises to deepen our understanding of the challenges and methodologies explored in Into the Wild. Brace yourselves for an exciting convergence of literature and hands-on expertise, as we dive deep into survival approaches with a living legend!
