Why We Are at This Stage

Colorado Charter School Institute (CSI) notified Colorado public charter schools on 2/16/24 that we were required to comply with Colorado HB21-1110. Since then, we have engaged a consulting organization with our plan and process. We have evaluated our current state and built a high-level project plan. Current staff are adding accessibility to their existing workloads.

Organizational Measures

  • Define a high-level accessibility roadmap that includes a timeline, goals, roles, responsibilities, and policies as needed for our organization.
  • Incorporate accessibility into our procurement processes.
  • Conduct and maintain an inventory of technology.
    • Prioritize and validate through testing and address issues that are found in current technology.
    • Obtain evidence of accessibility testing and compliance from 3rd party vendors.
    • Create and implement a plan for reasonable accommodation and modification until the technology can be accessible.
  • Provide contact information and support for receiving accessibility feedback and accommodations requests.
  • Hire people with accessibility skills and train current employees on providing accessible services and technology.
  • Create and post on front-facing web pages a progress-to-date report that is updated quarterly on the business day closest to the below dates and demonstrates concrete and measurable efforts toward compliance with the State of Colorado Office of IT (OIT) rules.
    • July 1st
    • October 1st
