A Message from CEC Interim CEA Tony Fontana: CEC Windsor Announces New Head Of School

The following is the full letter sent out to parents/guardians of CEC Windsor students from CEC’s Interim Chief Executive Administrator, Tony Fontana:

————————–

Colorado Early Colleges opened CEC Windsor in 2019 to serve the fast growing communities of Windsor, Timnath, and  the Weld County area by providing families with an additional high quality school of choice option.  Since then, CEC has grown CEC Windsor from a dedicated 6-8 middle school to a 6-12 middle/high school which celebrated its first graduating class this year.

Despite what you may have heard, CEC Windsor is not closing. CEC and the Governing Board remain resolute in serving students and families in the Windsor/Timnath/Severance/Greeley area.

Effective immediately, Kelly Smith is no longer the Head of School at CEC Windsor.  We wish the best for Kelly in her new endeavors.

Welcome Josh See as the new Interim Head of School at CEC Windsor.  Josh is a veteran CEC leader with more than 15 years of experience at both our Colorado Springs and Fort Collins campuses.  Josh was one of 12 original staff members who started CEC Fort Collins High School where he served as the Director of Advising and the Head of School. During his tenure at CEC:

  • Josh helped grow Fort Collins High School from 200 students to over 900 students in less than 6 years.
  • Josh developed and oversaw CEC Fort Collins’ College Direct program in Westminster.
  • Josh was part of the team that created and opened CEC’s first middle school in Fort Collins.
  • Josh cultivated relationships with 6 local community colleges, and 3 private and 2 public universities.

Josh received a Master of Applied Science in Geographic Education from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences-History Emphasis from the University of North Texas.

“CEC Windsor has the unique ability to build a foundation for middle school students and prepare them to thrive in an early college high school where all students will have the opportunity to earn a postsecondary credential by the time they graduate. I am looking forward to meeting you and your student(s) and am excited for the upcoming school year.”

Josh and the CEC Windsor staff will be hosting a “CEC Windsor Back to School” event in late July – watch for more details.

Should you want to meet with Josh prior to the “Back to School” event, please reach out to him directly via email at  josh.see@coloradoearlycolleges.org.

CEC will post for the permanent CEC Windsor Head of School in the near future.

Sincerely,
Tony Fontana
Interim Chief Executive Administrator
Colorado Early Colleges
