First-Aid Trained Staff at School Events
At the beginning of each school year, each CEC School Nurse will identify and record all staff who have a current CPR/First Aid Certification. All CEC bus drivers are required to have a current CPR/First Aid Certification.
The list of staff with current CPR/First Aid Certification will be distributed to each CEC Head of School, and/or designee, and will also be kept by the CEC School Nurse in the Health Office.
For each school-sponsored event, the staff member organizing the event will work with the School Nurse to ensure at least one staff member with a current CPR/First Aid Certification is present. It should be noted that a bus driver can be an optional designated school representative for CPR/First Aid at a school-sponsored event.
If a CPR/First Aid Certified staff member cannot attend the school-sponsored event, the event coordinator will notify the CEC Head of School. The CEC Head of School, or designee, will work with the School Nurse to either assign a Certified staff member to the event, or reschedule the event to when a Certified staff member is available.
