Staff Spotlight: Bethany Bondurant | English and Performing Arts Teacher

We want to take time this summer to highlight our amazing staff at CEC! This week’s Staff Spotlight goes to Bethany Bondurant, English and Performing Arts Teacher!

What is your educational background?
“I graduated from East Carolina University in 2013 with dual degrees in Theatre Education and Theatre for Youth and a minor in English. After graduating college, I taught Performing Arts and English from 2013-2020 in Craven County, North Carolina. I moved to Colorado in 2020 and began teaching for Colorado Early College in 2021!”

What is your favorite class project at CEC?
“One of my favorite class projects to teach is the Rockstar project that we complete in Performing Arts. Students dress up like a musical performer of their choice and lip-sync, acting like their “rockstar”. Through this project, students have brought musicians such as Michael Jackson, Freddy Mercury, Notorious B.I.G., and so many more! This is a project that students are able to have full creative control and it is so fun to watch the characters come to life!”

What are your hobbies outside of work/school?
“Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my boyfriend and daughter, hiking, and exploring Colorado.”

What does the CEC mission mean to you?
“CEC’s mission is actually why I applied and wanted to work for the school. I am a firm believer that ALL students deserve to have access to a school that will support them as an individual and meet their needs so that they have the opportunity to grow and become successful in life.”
